Museum tour

The Museum im Ritterhaus offers visitors a journey through 800 years of Osterode’s history on the first Saturday of every month at 2:30 p.m.

The guided tour recounts the town's origins and the lives of its medieval citizens, castle lords, and clergy, as well as the hardships faced by the people due to war, fire, and disease.

The first floor details the history of Osterode’s craftsmanship and traditional industries. The extensive customs of the guild-organized artisans governed people's lives down to the finest detail.

The upper floor offers plenty to delight enthusiasts of ecclesiastical art. It also houses a section dedicated to the history of pharmacies and historical clothing, showcasing the fashions and traditional attire worn by the people of Osterode and its outlying districts during the 19th century.

The tour lasts approximately one hour and is free of charge.
